Bookstore & Coffee Shop – St. Cloud, MN
CDG designed the renovation of over 9,000 sf to create a new coffee shop and upgrade the bookstore, mailroom, offices, and storage. Walls were removed to create visibility from the hallway into the spaces. Shelving in the bookstore was lowered to improve sightlines and new displays and coolers were added to allow the College to change merchandise and offer drinks and snacks, drawing students throughout the year instead of only at the outset of semesters when purchasing books. The mailroom, offices, and storage located adjacent to the bookstore were remodeled and a coffee shop was added to a prominent corner in the corridor, serving as a visible and convenient social gathering area. The project achieved its goal of refreshing and drawing users to the spaces year-round.
Based on the success of the bookstore and coffee shop, CDG worked with the College to update the floors and walls in corridors and classrooms. This work included similar goals as the Bookstore and Coffee Shop project, such as utilizing the SCTCC brand by using the logo and color scheme in the new carpeting and wall finishes.
