Rochester, Minnesota

Collaborative Design Group worked with the City of Rochester on a new parking ramp to serve the City and the neighboring new mixed-use building. The ramp has a capacity of nearly 500 cars and was designed to support additional levels or a 10-story housing complex. Various design challenges included fitting the ramp into its tight site in downtown Rochester, building over the railroad track that runs through the property, tying the ramp into the adjacent building below and above grade, and allowing for truck deliveries. The City desired a structure that is both functional and aesthetically pleasing, so CDG designers responded by creating an exterior façade that does not simply match the adjacent architecture, but, rather, has an identity of its own.
