The Roberts Street Ramp is a mixed-use project that consists of a new seven level ramp structure that is wrapped on three sides with a housing and retail building. CDG designed the ramp portion of the project and ESG Architects designed the housing and retail. CDG developed multiple layout schemes that worked within the constraints of the site, which was limited due to the space needed for the housing and retail portion of the facility. Both pre-cast and cast in place options were considered and presented to the City of Fargo as part of the approvals process. Drawing on our experience, we explained the benefits of each construction method to the City, which ultimately decided to build the more expensive cast in place ramp because of the lower overall maintenance costs that these ramps typically require.
