Collaborative Design Group provided architecture and structural engineering for the development of the 14,000 sf Trader Joe’s grocery store, which includes underground parking. The building engages the corner of Randolph & Lexington with a pedestrian-scale pergola and plaza transition, which balances pedestrian and vehicle traffic. In addition to the grocery store, a 5,500 sf retail building and coffee shop were constructed on the 1.2 acre site. The buildings were designed to fit with the massing and context of the surrounding Highland Park neighborhood.
