Collaborative Design Group worked with Hennepin County to provide programming, planning, and design services to assist Hennepin County in the relocation of multiple departments. This work began with space needs assessments to determine which departments to relocate into the 701 Building. CDG designed the remodel of empty spaces in the 701 Building and provided relocation services to transition departments into the new building, including three units in the Sheriff’s Office Investigative Division, three Department of Community Corrections and Rehabilitation units, and the Public Defender’s Office.
CDG also assisted with the relocation of NorthPoint and DOCCR services into the recently constructed Thor building, which is across the street from the NorthPoint Health & Wellness campus. The fifth floor of the building was built-out to serve as swing space during NorthPoint construction, then a permanent location for administrative offices and a conferencing center that would serve the entire NorthPoint campus. The floor is shared with a new branch for DOCCR, which includes office space, high-security entry and reception, laboratory, secure storage, and interview rooms. CDG worked with the County to determine which departments could function best at this new location and proceeded to design the most logical layout of those departments throughout the entire floor.
