Hastings, Minnesota

Originally serving as the Dakota County Courthouse, Hastings City Hall was constructed from 1869 to 1871. The structure had experienced deteriorating masonry and interior cracking ever since a new bridge was constructed nearby, so the City of Hastings hired Collaborative Design Group to assess the building to understand the condition of the building and determine if any structural issues were present. CDG assessed the interior and exterior of the building, including the roofs, cupolas, masonry, and foundations, and determined that the building was structurally sound and interior cracking was cosmetic in nature and not detrimental to the overall health of the building. All findings were detailed in a report, along with recommendations and cost estimates for necessary restoration work. CDG subsequently completed construction documents to carry out masonry and waterproofing recommendations made in the report.
