Hopkins, Minnesota
Collaborative Design Group has assisted the City of Hopkins with multiple municipal improvement projects, including:
Police Station
The addition and renovation project fully updated an undersized and inefficient space. A new reception area was added and the existing building was remodeled to create separate public, police, and inmate spaces. The new plan provides better circulation, enlarged dispatch center and evidence room, training and meeting rooms, sally port, and additional interview rooms. The primary Emergency Operations Center was also relocated to the renovated space.
Fire Station
The new five-bay, 26,000 sf volunteer station includes a training room, exercise area, and office spaces for department administration. The station incorporates the back-up Emergency Operation Center, a training stair with active standpipe capability, a training balcony rescue simulation, second floor rescue, and roof top rappelling. Additionally, three dorm rooms were designed into the project for a future sleep-in program.
Public Works
The project included site planning, evaluation of the existing building, and development of options to remodel and expand the existing facility. The project includes a new vehicle storage building, shops, storage areas, salt/sand storage building, outdoor wash bay, and fueling station.
